its not hard, let me guess your high presser hose has a leak at the fitting on the pump, its common.
this is the new updated version and a good price http://www.justforjeeps.com/01grch4hypos.html
also have to get fluid form the dealer since a PS pumps need a special fluid called MS5931 if they try to sell you ATF+4 dont buy it and ask for MS5931 PS fluid. a quart should do but picking up extra will not hurt. also its not cheap and can be $10+ a quart
1- get a turkey baster and get all the fluid out of the pump and remoev teh little metal brackets on each end of the hose it pops right off
2- put a pan under the jeep since it will drip
3- undo the lower fitting that is by the radiator, will be on tight so hit it with PB blaster and you need some strength and it will drip out so use your pan
- its a tight space and i used a adjustable wrench or can get a crows foot if you want to spend the money
4 - undo the top part at the pump, i found removing the hose to radiator hose helps
5 - theirs a bag with a fitting that connect to the lower part. do not pop it on to the hoses. just screw it on to the lower part and tighten it.
6- then attach the hose to the pump and tighten it
7 - now pop the lower part of the hose to the fitting you put on before.
8- fill up PS pump with the right fluid, will hear a loud screech its OK.
9 - you will have to add some more fluid since it going into the hose, so check the stick till you see it good.
9- if you can not pop the hose to its old bracket just tie wrap it and done
if you been mixing other PS fluid in its a good idea to remove the old fluid and replace it all with the right. so do get 2 quarts
-after you get all the fluid out of the pump in step 1, remove the 2 return lines and let all the fluid drain out to your pan or bottle.
-cover the return line opening so fluid dose not come out that way
- after you install the new hose leave the retun line in the pan or bottle and keep adding fluid to you see the same color fluid you put in come out.
- the pump will make a screeching sound so can do this in one shot with the sound, fill the pump up and start the jeep for a moment then shut it off, or have a friend turn the wheel side to side while you add fluid and wait for the right color to come out the return lines
- then put the return lines back and fill the pump to the right lever
this si what the PS pump looks like jeep PS pump.JPG
hope it helps and if something sounds odd let me know and will help
