problem: battery terminal severely damaged

So my gf had this 98 gc laredo and whoever she got it from banged on the terminal and post so i cant remove it to replace it.. i cant adjust it and it dies every now and then from a bad connection... I do Have a terminal puller.. but after i use it to get the terminal off will i need a new battery? or will the new terminal go over this damaged post?

As long as the post isn't pulled from the case you should be OK. You may have to shape the post a little if it get distorted, no big deal. A little baking powder and water poured on the terminal may loosen things a bit.

Sand paper, file, pair of pliers. You just need to make sure the new clamp makes good contact. As a safety precaution disconnect both terminals and cover the one you are not working on. You don't want to accidently short them out.
