Radiator Fan Always On

I got home tonight, turned the Jeep off, and the radiator fan kept running. I left thinking it my be running hot and it's something I've overlooked before. Came back out 20 minutes later and it was still running and the engine wasn't hot. So I pulled the fuse so it wouldn't drain the battery tonight.

I'm thinking the relay crapped out and needs replaced. Anything else it could be? Obviously it could be some weird short across the relay so it's always getting power, but that seems highly unlikely. I'll trouble shoot it tomorrow with a DMM. I'm just seeing if there should be anything else I should look at.

I know the radiator fan relay is a common failure in these vehicles. Is there a recommended replacement brand? Or one to stay away from.

Re: Radiator Fan Always On

Should be a fried fan relay. When im not wrong the mopar relay would be the best choise.
The relay can be the only problem, or the fan is drawing too much current and fried the relay.

Re: Radiator Fan Always On

As expected, the relay was bad. Replaced it and all was good. Instead of cutting a hole under the headlight, I removed everything and did it the "right" way and it only took 30 minutes. It probably would have taken me longer to get the dremel out, cut a hole, and seal it back up.
