Re: Re-call : heated seats

On the passenger side of mine the foam had to be replaced because it was actually charred a little. That is the reason for the recall. After seeing the foam I'm kind of glad I had it done. I really miss my super pizza warmer though

Re: Re-call : heated seats

How long has this re-call been in effect? I've heard nothing about it. Does it only affect a certain year model?

Re: Re-call : heated seats

I've got heated seats and not heard anything from them. Would it be worth contacting them?

Re: Re-call : heated seats

Stop at the dealer Aaron They will run your vin for you. If it hasn't been done they will order the parts and do it free of charge. But wait a minute The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration over here enforces the recalls on vehicles. I doubt they have any jurisdiction in Scotland so maybe Jeep decided to let you guys catch on fire over there to save money to pay for our seat heaters Seriously though bro they may not be forced into a recall in other countries. Trust me they won't recall anything here unless they are called out by NHTSA.

yeah you're probably right Dave. I should check the previous paperwork. I seem to have every receipt, service stamp etc all dealer done, well before I got it. My seats went around January last year and it burned my leg in the process . I had thought it was just a fuse or something and I've not really needed to use them since, until now.

I'll give them a call. You don't ask, you don't get, right?

As far as I'm aware, I don't think, there's any specific 'law' as such to force dealers to recall vehicles. But most do, especially if it's hazardous, brakes etc, out of moral duty .

Re: Re-call : heated seats

If you guys look in your manual, there should be "registration cards" you can fill out and send in to Jeep. They will then make sure your name and address is attached to your VIN so if there are any recalls, etc, they mail them to you. If you bought your ride used, they have no way of knowing that unless you sent the card in.

they use motor vehicle records to mail out recall notices not warranty cards (little differant than a washer/dryer)
