Rear brake lights

I have been having an issue with the rear brake lights on my 99 wj and the left turn signal. Now I know that the multifunction switch has alot of problems, but i don't know about this one. When you have your lights on the runing lights come on the drivers side but not on the passanger. When you hit the brakes the brake light comes on the passanger side but not on the drivers side. And the runing light goes out on the drivers side. As for the turn signal it works fine on the passanger side but not on the drivers side. If any one has any information on my problem please message me.

Re: Rear brake lights

First check the light bulbs, they are double filament and one could be burned. If ok, then most probably the small copper collored tabs on the sockets are the culprit. They should make contact with the base plate, but many times they don't. Lift them up a bit more or even clean them when they are dirty/corroded.
If the problem was the switch stack, non of the lights was coming on.

Re: Rear brake lights

Agree with Frank, messed with thisnagain all week end but at the end of the day, it was eithe the contacts, the rotation of the sockets to get the contacts to work again, and the replacement of one of the socket (too old and falling apart), and it works again well. This is very common on these WJs, have read several other threads on the same issue. Also, you'd think that it can not be due one socket but it can, somehow they affect each other's proper operation.
