Hi, hope you can help, as it says the distance it works at is poor, so have read up about attaching an antenna to the receiver unit, but cannot find the correct place on the circuit board to solder wire to. Its a RHD 2001 WJ 4 litre. Thanks
If the antenna wire is not there, then there most probably is written "AI" on the circuit board where the antenna should attach to.
Here in attachment a picture how it is on a ZJ, just as an example.
Since your jeep is RHD, the remote receiver should be in the left door module i believe.
yes, have got the stage with the printed circuit out, but it doesn't look quite like the one in the picture, and there isn't a A1 label on it, and no flying Ariel lead.
It is at least the module with the receiver. Didn't you find a piece of wire under in the door? You most probably will have to remove the circuit board from the housing and check the other side of the board.
Its quite a bit out of focus, but i wonder if the circuit on the lower side, which runs to the left side of the board, is not part of the antenna circuit. How does the solder look like at the end? Maybe could make a closeup picture of it?
And there is no sign on any of the circuit boards of a solder where a piece of wire sticks out. If it had the antenna wire connected, but it detached, there must be some sign of it left in the solder.
