It looks alot easier ordering from JFJ. The install guide makes it look easy.
Good luck and happy breathing.

Re: Replaced Cabin Filter

I have every bell and whistle on my Overland, except the air filter kit. Seems the PO decided he didnt need clean air in the cabin.
So, now I have to suffer until I get a kit.

Actually the filter and kit does not come from the factory when purchased new. That's why you have to discard the factory housing.
Don't understand Chryslers way of thinking on this one.

Me neither; I doubt it would have costed them that much to include it standard from the factory.

Also, why are you using dark blue font? If you're using the default black style on here since they made the switch then the contrast is terrible. That is unless you've changed to a white background.

Re: Replaced Cabin Filter

There is no "AC filter"...the cabin air filter is the only one related to the HVAC system.

Re: Replaced Cabin Filter

Thank's for the quick answer but , can you explain why it's stated in the maintenance schedule to replace the air conditioning filter every 16,000 Mils !
This is a exemple of 48,000 Miles (78,000 km) or 36 Months Maintenance Service Schedule

❏ Change the engine oil and engine oil filter.
❏ Rotate the tires, rotate at the first sign of irregular wear, even if it occurs before
48,000 miles (78 000 km).
❏ If using your vehicle for any of the following: Dusty or off-road conditions. Inspect the
engine air cleaner filter; replace if necessary.
❏ Replace the air conditioning filter.
❏ Inspect the brake linings, replace if necessary.
❏ Inspect the CV joints.
❏ Inspect exhaust system.
❏ Inspect the front suspension, tie rod ends and boot seals for cracks or leaks and all parts for
damage, wear, improper looseness or end play; replace if necessary.
❏ Inspect the front and rear axle fluid, change if using your vehicle for police, taxi, fleet,
off-road or frequent trailer towing.

Re: Replaced Cabin Filter

Are you referring to a WJ? I just noticed you've got a 2011.

I still think the same thing regardless...maybe they call it an "AC filter" in the manual so the consumer understands? I've only ever seen it referred to as a "cabin air filter" because it filters all the air that goes through the HVAC system.

Re: Replaced Cabin Filter

No it's a Grand Cherokee.

I think you are right, because there is nowhere in the schedule that it mention to change the cabin air filter. So the AC filter as they call it is defenitely the cabin air filter. I do belive that changing that filter every 16,000 Km is a little too much.

Thank's again

Re: Replaced Cabin Filter

I agree...I think it's one of those things that all depends on how much you run the HVAC, and how dusty of conditions you drive in. That's about the only thing on the maintenance schedule I'd stretch without guilt or worry.

A WJ is a Grand Cherokee from 99-04, a WK is from 05-10, a WK2 is from 11-present. With the cost of that filter there is no way I would be changing it every other oil change (16,000km) and very little chance I would do it every 4th oil change (16,000 miles) ...if I had one at all.
