Re: Running crazy hot!!!

So looks like tomorrow will be spent figuring out my temp sensor issue. On another note I went out this morning when I got home from work and what did I see? Coolant puddle. It is now dripping fairly constant and consistent so I get to track a leak also Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
See what I get for getting a good deal.

You will know, that is all that needs to be said, sounds similar to a boeing 747 throttling up for take off. I recently had a failed head gasket on a 4.7l that came in because it was "over heating and it was revving really high" it wasnt revving high at all, it was the fan at full power

They hydraulic fan assembly is VERY VERY expensive, I would highly suggest NOT tampering with this system and damaging it just sayin.

Re: Running crazy hot!!!

Ok so new temp sensor in and it's still not reading on the gauge. Tested the wiring and it is with in spec so between that and my voltage gauge not reading right I'm thinking maybe a gauge problem or possibly a PCM problem.

However with the new sensor in the fan was turning on and off regularly. I do have a good leak in the rad though so I'll be replacing that I guess, and I'll do a 180 stat while I'm at it. It is flowing for sure but I figure I might as well go for it while it's apart. Piece of mind mostly.

Still not running worth a crap. It sat in my driveway for 20 min going between idle and me reving it to 5k on occasion and it ran fine. Got it on the road and within a mile it started stalling out? Of course no codes. When in my driveway it was sitting on ramps under the front wheels.

I'm lost here please help guys.

Re: Running crazy hot!!!

More info on the stalling issue.

After driving about 1/4 mile after having run great in my driveway it would start loosing power but still revving then stop revving. After pulling to the side of the road for about 3 min with trans in idle and motor still running it would be normal for about 100 yards then start doing it again. After getting it home and stopping in my driveway it would rev just fine.

check grounds and the harness wires might be rubbed through or pinched find some one with a decent scanner and look for temp voltage and other parameters to see if anything is acting funny

hmmm possible trans issue? as is when its put into drive the issue starts? is there a idle air.control? idk if this would help at all in diagnosis but maybe compression test and leak down test time?

I'll have that checked for sure but I'm glad to see that my fan is cycling even without the gauge reading. Now I'm thinking it wasn't as hot as I had thought before so hopefully no damage was caused.

Trans is where I was thinking considering that it only happens when driving. I can't imagine idle air control, compression or leak down would be the problem where it runs fine in the driveway even with revving it up it doesn't miss a beat. Idles smooth at 600rpm.

I have the ability to control the fan using SCT.

I know I need an SCT but I don't have to funds right now, plus I want to get my mods and the scan at the same time so you can tune for cams and what not.

Get your stuff fixed first- tuning around mechanical faults is no bueno. I turn down more business than I take on for this very reason. I hate doing it, but I can't fix trucks with a keyboard.

Couldn't agree more and I commend you for that. Turning down business for the good of the customer is a lost trait in businesses anymore. I assure you I will be getting a hold of you as soon and I get it fixed and recoup the funds from fixing it.
