Seat belt light on dash

hi,guys,
I have a problem with the seat belt light going out on the dash when engine is switched on,even when the seat belt is not buckeld and there is no warning chimes either.any help appreciated..

Re: Seat belt light on dash

When ignition is switched on, the seatbelt light comes on as a test, independent on the seatbelt status. Thereafter it depends on the hall effect switch which sits embedded in the buckle. I would check the wiring from this switch as far as possible. I believe it runs together with the power seat wiring. The wires will go to the airbag control module, which sits under the center console, just behind the shifter assy.
Regarding a chime, did it do that before? I have no chime on my jeep at least for the seatbelt, but that can be market dependent.
