Small oil drip under my 2002 wj

I recently noticed a small oil drip, about one to two drops each day, on my driveway and coming from my jeep grand cherokee laredo.
Any ideas as to what may be causing this?
I also noticed a slight tapping noise coming from my engine as well.

Your jeep is almost 5 m long with several places where oil can come from, so have a look first under your car if you can find any wet spot, than we can give you any ideas.
Regarding the tapping noise, did this suddenly start? Is it always there, or only when hot or cold?

Is it motor oil? Gear oil? Tranny fluid?

Stick your finger in it and smell it.

Re: Small oil drip under my 2002 wj

let me rub my crystal ball...

its a 4.0l... leaking oil from the rear main seal, and something is nagging at me that you may have some leaking from your valve cover.

the tapping, my crystal ball is telling me... YOU HAVE A 4.0L!!! ha ha. talk about the noisiest motor ive ever heard, but they still run like a top. it could be your lifters, and it could be piston slap, rod knock... most likely lifters. Check your oil level, hydraulic lifters will bleed down if you get low on oil and tick.
