Does anyone else have this problem? I've had it on the back wiper for quite some time (a bit on the front as well), but today I climbed up and checked out the top rails and they are TERRIBLE on the inner part! What can I do to touch this up? I've tried armor all, etc on the non-roof parts in the past but it just doesn't last very long on making it not-so-gray. The sun damage dots have gotten worse since then, so it definitely needs some paint or something.
not sure about the top brooke, but the rear wiper arm is metal and could be painted with some flat black paint. some sanding first, then etching primer, then the black.
Yeah, my rear wiper is shot too. I need to get a replacement from the dealer when I go in for a new sump plug.
Not sure if the sun caused it or what but yeah, I think a replacement is the only way to go.
As for the roof rails, I'd guess its just bonded contaminants or overspray. Wouldn't worry about that as they're not all that visible unless you look down on the roof though.
mine were like that too. just do what robpp said and it will look new again
that black part under the wiper is starting to look faded too... if you use some mother black to black it will also look like new
Well it is a little more complicated then just pull it off with your hand I guess....says you might need a puller tool. Check this out, could probably borrow one from advance auto etc...
thats EXACTLY what my roof rails, front wiper arms and rear arm looked on my 95 ZJ, i just removed the rails and arms from the Jeep, went to wally world and got 3 .96 cent cans of flat black spray paint and went to town.. they turned out amazing. made the Jeep look new again, i also did mah door handles too, there wasnt anything wrong with them and it made them smoother.. i didnt even clear them.. just flat black.. i have pics if you wanna see before and after..
the others can be found here..
I had the same problem with mine. I just presumed it was down to weather, salt on the roads etc. I just sanded it back and used matte hammerite paint. Looks brand new now.
Same thing here too, and It bugged me enough that I just replaced the rear wiper arm. The top of the rails is probably just due to bad paint. I haven't fixed that yet though, I have A LOT of other things to do first.
