That Stupid Resistor!!

Hi all. i have searched the entire web for an answer and called a dozen dealerships...I found many people with the same prob, but have yet to find the solution.
2000 GC Limited- 2wd - auto climate control. The AC blower was coming and going and finally stopped completely. Research lead me to find a melted blower resistor, so I went to ABC auto and got a new one for $140. I put single plug connectors on the three wires (red, brown/yellow, and black) and hooked the unit up in the same way the old one was wired. Now my blower is on high and will not turn off - even with the key off and/or the power off. The air is nice and cold, but I have no control over the fan speed. Please, please help me resolve this.
Thanks so much for any time spent responding to this.

Re: That Stupid Resistor!!

Its probably just a way of worthing, but you installed the blower motor controller and not a resistor, isn't it? The manual AC system uses a resistor, but the AZC system uses a controller.

Re: That Stupid Resistor!!

I replaced the 2"x3"(ish) black box that has cooling fins/pegs on the back. red and black wires going out to the blower; red, brown/yellow, black wires going in. The red wire is constant hot.

Re: That Stupid Resistor!!

According my wiring schematic the 3 wires you mentioned are labled on the controler receptacle as A, B and C. A= ground, B= control power from the AZC module and C= constant power. When you remove fuse #7 from the junction block, the control power from B should be 0 V, to be sure that B and C are not crossed.

Re: That Stupid Resistor!!

Thanks for the response. What is O V? Is there a copy of that schematic onilne somewhere? I am not looking to have all the homework done for me, it is just that I have looked for hours over the past week and cannot find answers. I am assuming A=black, B=brown/yellow and C=red. Is that correct? Thanks again.

Re: That Stupid Resistor!!

0 V = zero Volt
My schematic manual shows: A= Black, B= Red/Light green and C= Dark Green.
My manual is for a 2004 jeep, so there could be a difference. I did download once the manual from 1999 to 2004 (for free), but that site doesn't have it anymore. Just try to Google "WJ service manual" and see what it comes up with.
I can send you the schematic page for the 2000 tomorrow if you want.

I can only send you one page of the wiring schematic. See the following link where many free downloads for WJ manuals are available: http://mediafilesearchmaster.com/sea...&wm=149&sub=10 or
