Track bar bushings

Changed the track bar last year with a new one from OmixAda, but when i was checking for play on the steering rod ends, i found some play on one of the track bar bushings already. What a crapy stuff this OmixAda sells, i also had bad experience with control arm bushings from them.
Someone already changed the rubber bushings with poly bushings? I know that Kevins offroad sells them. I tried to remove the bushings from the old track bar, without hydraulic press sofar, but they didn't budge.

Re: Track bar bushings

Frank,

I am in the same boat with the OMIX-ADA track-bar issues. I decided against the poly bushings because they can be noisy and deform under non-uniform loads.

The one thing that I had considered, but not yet pursued, was to weld flex-joints to the ends of the track-bar, or have one built with flex-joints...

Re: Track bar bushings

Thanks for the reply Carlos.
The strange thing is that i only see play on the track bar side which is connected to the chassis, not on the side connected to the axle. That was the same with the original track bar.
Would flex joints not propagate the road noise?

Unfortunately, it only takes wear in one side of the track-bar to create movement in the front end of the Jeep.

As for the Flex-joints being noisy, they may make a little more noise than rubber, but not much more. Most of the Flex-joints have somethng equivalent to a Nylon race installed. This should dampen the vibrations quite a bit more than you would experience from a Heim joint. I currently have 2-Heims and 1-Flex joint in my rear upper A-arm and it is not terrible. In-fact, once I get over my initial scrutinizing of the Jeep ride (after not having been in it for a while), I even forget about the slight difference in the ride after a few minutes.

I am going to take a look at the Ruff Country 1084 Track-bar. Generally they are designed for specific lifts only...

Regards,

Carlos
