trailer hitch plug

I do not have 12 volts at the 7 pin plug at rear
i have chased it everywhere looking for a blown fuse
i just tried for the first time to use the trailer plug and was checking everything with a volt meter and have nothing on the 12 volt pin
everything else is fine
anybody have any idea where to begin short of tearing the rear cargo area out and chasing the wire
could it be the harness from plug to the cargo area
circuit breaker if so where, fuse?
Help!

Re: trailer hitch plug

Check the cigarette lighter fuse. The B+ is tied to that. There is also a circuit breaker in the relay pack under the trim on the driver side rear quarter panel. Here's a link with a lot of useful info. http://wjjeeps.com/trailer.htm

Re: trailer hitch plug

Cigarette lighter is fine as i use it everyday for my XM radio
I figured the next step was remove trim in cargo area
Is the relay pack part of the harness or is it part of OEM wiring?

Re: trailer hitch plug

It's part of the trailer tow harness. You can unplug it back there and probe the oem plug to see if you have b+ before the circuit breaker.

Re: trailer hitch plug

Just in case anyone else ever has this problem:
i started removing the trim today.
checked the harness and that all was fine but i removed the nice foam bag the relays and breaker are in and low and behold the 15 amp breaker was not ever put in the holder, no one has ever taken anything apart back there as of now, i guess this must be what you have to take to the dealer to get activated, what i read some where else.
What a joke make you pay big bucks to get a breaker shoved in!

Re: trailer hitch plug

Boy I never checked to see if I had 12 volts at my trailer connector. Damn I was just in there wiring my back up cam and never thought to check the bag. What kind of breaker does it take if mine is missing?

To the best of my knowledge there is no dealer involvement required on a WJ trailer hitch and wiring install... On a WK it requires going into the TIPM via witech and turning on the output.
