Tranny main filter seal won't come out. Help

Hi guys...Replacing my main tranny filter and i can't remove the filter seal. What is the risk of using the old filter seal that is stuck flush with the pump housing ( as it should be before placing the filter tube in ). Or any tips on how to remove. 2004 WJ 4.7 2wd

Why can't you get it out ? It's just basically a rubber grommet. You should really use the new one.

Re: Tranny main filter seal won't come out. Help

The seal is in fact a metal ring with rubber on it. You can just put a screwdriver under it and wedge it out.

Re: Tranny main filter seal won't come out. Help

I've drilled a small hole in some, put a screw in the hole, and pulled it out. Make sure the shavings don't go inside.
