trans fluid flush with new filters

I did a complete trans flush and also dropped the pan to change both filters. Switched to Amsoil Synthetic ATF and used Wix filter kit with gasket.

All went pretty smoothly but It makes a slight slipping noise when shifting from neutral to reverse or drive.

It probably always did this and I just now noticed. just wondering if there is anything to worry about or check.

Driving works fine. All gears and taking into and out of overdrive. etc. Checked fluid numerous times to make sure it is right. Will check fluids again tomorrow.

I've always used OEM juice in the trans. While Amsoil is great stuff, I've just read a lot of stories from a lot of Jeep owners that running any other trans fluid besides OEM stuff is asking for trouble.

Hope that's not the case here! How long did it go without a fluid change?

Don't know how your slipping noise is, but when i engage Drive or Reverse, my tranny always made some strange noise, like if gears are engaging.

I assume that you are talking about a 45/545RFE trans since you say "both" filters. If so, than a little buzzing or rapid clicking noise when you put it in gear is normal and nothing to worry about.

As for the Amsoil ATF, I started using it in my 2000 45RFE at about the second or third 30k mile change interval. and then changed it and the filters every 50k miles after.

When I sold the Jeep at 280k miles the transmission was still working fine and had never needed any work other than the fluid and filter changes.

However I am sticking to the recommended ATF+4 in my current 2004 Jeep.

I went 72,200 before changing it so I know it went a little long. It is the 545RFE with both filters.

That is a perfect description of the sound. A little buzzing or rapid clicking noise. It might even be coming from the transfer case.. Otherwise it is working great except for the electrical glitch that developed this morning.

I used the search function and I am guessing it was just a coincidence that it started along with all my other work. It got the power window and rear view mirror not working problem that stems from a frayed wire in the driver door. Already took it to Jeep and paid 215.00 to have them fixed and heat shrinked. A letter to Jeep will follow with a complaint! While it is out of warranty, wires should not go bad, at least not at 72,200 and 6 years and it appears to be happening to A LOT of them now. Sounds like a design error!

My 93 Grand Cherokee Laredo has 238,000 and is still going strong with only 2 filter fluid changes on OEM style fluids but the rear differential is making noise.

This is my first Amsoil vehicle so I hope it works as good as it is supposed too.

The wires in the door boot are indeed a more often happening problem. Some of the wires are quite thick and very stiff, making it prone to breakage after opening and closing the door many times. A more flexible wire would have solved this problem.
