Trans Sensors

Have to replace the front and rear speed sensors on my '02 GrandC LTD trans, do I have to drop the trans?

Re: Trans Sensors

No need to drop trans on the 545RFE. Just make sure you have a drain pan to catch the bit of fluid that will come out when you remove them. Just a wire harness and 1 bolt for each.

It's a good idea to make sure your fluid level is good after you finnish too.

Re: Trans Sensors

Changed mine some time ago (545RFE) and not even a drop of oil came out. Trans was cold at that time. Very easy job, indeed one connector and one bolt and you just pull it out.

Re: Trans Sensors

By the way, what was the problem you had with the old speed sensors?

Re: Trans Sensors

If you dont want fluid to come out while doing it, i would think changing them with a cold tranny would be the way to go. More ATF has settled in the pan. $15 part can give serious problems!
