Transfer Case Seal Leaking, Full Time 4 Wheel, Quadra Drive System

Hello everyone, my 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee has the 4.7 V-8 and full time Quadra Drive system that works great. The rear seal on the transfer case started leaking at about 99k miles about 2 years ago. At 101k it had to be replaced again because it started leaking again. The Jeep dealer replaced the seal this time, at no charge, and filled the transfer case with synthetic as now recommended by Jeep. It used ATF before changing to synthetic fluid. My Jeep now has about 104k miles on it now and the transfer case has been leaking again. In about 3,000 miles it leaked about 4 ounces of fluid. I purchased the vehicle with about 79K on it, it has the up-country suspension. I have not done any towing with it myself but do not know how much it may have been used for towing by the original owner. If anyone has some ideas or suggestions please let me hear them. Some options I am thinking about are as follows; Do I need a new transfer case, should I try an after market seal instead of the factory replacement seals that have installed. Is there a problem with the synthetic Mopar transfer case fluid that I am now using.
Thank you for your comments and suggestions....Oscar

Rear output seals as well as front pinion seals are the scurge of the wj world. I don't think I've ever looked under a wj where 1 or both weren't leaking to some degree though yours seems a little excessive. Those leaks usually look way worse than they usually are. You might want to check your front yoke where it slides into the rear output for any grooves or burs in the seal area. As far as fluid that's ALL they recommend now.

You could have a look at the T-case breather, to see if it is not blocked. It would in that case build up pressure when heating up and you could loose oil at the point where its most fulnerable, the shaft seals.

There are 3 specific TSB outstanding against the NP247 transfer case. as Indicated above one is for the T-Case breather, one for the rubber cap on top of the case, and one for the oil. Check above the transfer case and see if there is any oil on the surface above the rubber seal, if so that is the issue. If the leak is from the Rear output Seal could be from the Transfer case breather being blocked or the output seal. Note: In addition if the rear output seal cover ahs ever been removed there is the oil pump inside that case and it has a small hose that simply plugs into the oil pump. If it has come out it can also cause a leak.
