Transmission fluid

I want to change my transmission fluid and filters, but now even the jeep stealers here in Brazil donīt provide the ATF+4 anymore. They told me that they use now ATF+1, but only for more then double the price the ATF+4 was costing before. (more or less 68 USD a bottle)
Sofar i couldnīt find anything on internet regarding ATF+1. One of you guys could give me any idea who makes this oil? I know that Valvoline is the provider of the ATF+4, but they also donīt sell it overhere..............

Re: Transmission fluid

Can you use RP synthetic on top of the factory fluid when doing a service? It would seem that the synthetic would not mix properly with the factory oil, but I'm just guessing.

It woul be expensive but maybe I could add RP, run for a 1000 miles or so and service again. Just wondering how to get all the old oil out w/o draining the converter and if the two oils are compatible.

Re: Transmission fluid

ATF+4 is synthetic so mixing it with RP shouldn't be that big of an issue.

Re: Transmission fluid

So the 2004 4.7 Trannies came with synthetic lube? Wow, that is pretty good, I didn't expect synthetic from the factory.

Thanks for the info.
