yep thats the one. yea I have a 100.00 deductable and you have to pay the diagnosis fee. They are making me pay for 1/2 hour work, prolly like 40 bucks to tell me my trans fluid is two quarts low, lol.

Re: Transmission question?

a couple things... you say "40 dollars to tell you your atf was low" they say "if you had a problem you could have pulled the dipstick out yourself "

BUT

at the same time why was it low? if its not leaking, if you have ever had a trans service done then whomever did it didnt fill it up properly to begin.

yea thats what Im going to talk to the guy tomorrow about, why it was low. I have all the service records on my jeep and everytime the oil was changed, the trans fluid level was checked. Its like dont charge me 40 bucks just to tell me its low, I need to know why etc

Re: Transmission question?

well apparently it doesnt have any leaks anywhere. I even took it to car x and had them check for any leaks after I got it back to make sure. They couldnt find any and even showed me the areas to look, all were dry. Dont know why it was 2 quarts short. I have records of oil changes after the trans oil was changed at 34,000 miles and they checked the trans level and it was ok, heck I even had all the fluid levels checked when I bought the jeep and it was fine.

Anyway, I just had them fill it to a normal level and left it at that. The trans oil looks and smells clean, plus they were going to charge me nearly 400 to change the trans oil and filter and said they had to use a flush machine to clean out the lines or something so I didnt have them do it.

Re: Transmission question?

Sorry, time to find another dealer/shop, or another tech and writer to work with. I have NEVER heard of a reputable shop attempting repairs by flushing the trans. 1st step if you have problems is to pull the pan, at that point sure I could see flushing being a logical (I SAID LOGICAL NOT RIGHT ) step if there is alot of metal in the pan. but still flushing doesn nothing but cover up an underlying concern, if something is failing a flush wont fix it

I think you would have a case to talk to the service manager, go in with your stack of checkoff sheets that all indicate all fluid levels good and then ask why you were charged? So long as your nice, I could see them working with you.
