Re: Trouble shooting 4 X 4 CV joint or .....

After having my wife roll up and down the driveway a couple of times, I feel sure the sounds I'm getting is coming right from the drivers side wheel. I know I will have to pull the new hub bearing to get to the CV joint and that will allow me to inspect the hub first, but right now I feel it's the CV joint behind the hub. No cracks in the boot or signs of any grease coming from within. No bulge in the boot from loose parts inside.

Four loose lug nuts, yes four of the five were loose. One was still tight which kept me from feeling that the wheel was loose while it was the small amount of play between the studs and the holes that was allowing the whole wheel to move around and make a squeeking sound. An embarassment to say the least!
