Re: Trunk on 2001 GC dont open

If you crawl in from the back seat there is a little access door to the lock mechanism, however I have never had to use it so I'm not sure exactly what to look for when you get in there.

Just like Aaron states, it;s not hard to spot on the tailgate. A small tab that you pop open.

Re: Trunk on 2001 GC dont open

I never had to use it, but just looked for it for just in case.
When you open the small square cover, you will just see some plastic. Just move it aside and feel with your finger. There should be a small lever which can unlock/lock the tailgate.
If you donīt hear any noise when listening close to the tailgate when unlocking, most probably the lock motor failed. It could be wiring, so its wise to open it all up and measure first if there is power when you try to lock/unlock. If it makes some noise, but doesnīt move, the lock motor is too weak or the mechanism has some resistance to move.
Attached a picture how the mechanism looks like, with also the manual lock/unlock lever shown.
