I wonder if the problem is fluid change related or not. I think its very important on these jeeps to rotate the wheels front to back regulary, to keep the wear between front and rear as close as possible to each other. When front or rear wear more, then there becomes a difference in rotational speed between the front and rear propeller shafts. This difference can/will activate the progressive coupler and could keep it activated all the time. And it seems that this coupler is not made for full time operation and will wear/break down quickly.

Nope bud I just live with it. It's really no big deal to put it in low lock and I very rarely get into that situation anymore because I'm aware of it now. Also a new progressive coupler may or may not fix the issue as it could be in the plumbing to it. Nobody seems to have a definite answer. Once you get moving in drive all is good again and nothing has broken or gotten worse so to me it's not worth the hassle or expense. I truly believe its done this since new.

You could always swap out the 247 for a 242HD case. I've always been curious as to how the jeep would behave with the 242 and the vari-lok axles.
