Re: Turn key no crank for at least a minute

Is the electrical connector in the trans too or does it come out of the trans?

Re: Turn key no crank for at least a minute

Held the key down and wiggled the shifter, nothing. While had it crank position put my foot on the brake and put it in neutral and it started. Not sure if it's a coincidence because I've tried to start it in neutral before and no difference.

Re: Turn key no crank for at least a minute

It can be a matter of adjustment of the gearshifter cable.
Next times you want to start, try playing again with the gear shifter and see if it makes any difference. You could also check the adjustment, but i'm not able to attach any info now.
The connector is outside of the trans, left hand side close to where the shifter cable is connected. You can't miss it, its the only large wire bundle with large connector. There are 2 more 2 wire connectors on that side, but they are from the input (the forward one) and output (the aft one) speed sensors.

Re: Turn key no crank for at least a minute

Probably best to measure the park/neutral switch first. Not easy to get access to the TRS/solenoid block receptacle, but if you remove the starter relay from the PDC, you could, with a multimeter in Ohms range, measure the switch position from the PCM connector C1 point 6 to ground. Remove negative battery cable before disconnecting any connector from PCM or any other electronic control box.
So you should see 0 Ohms in Park and Neutral and infinite in any other position.

Re: Turn key no crank for at least a minute

Whoo hoo. FIXED IT.
First I thought it was the ignition wire that went to the starter, as wiggling it around while in crank position it would start. However oddly enough the plastic connector was gone and just the spade clip was in there. So I squeezed it with pliers and filled the space with hot glue as a quick fix.
Didn't work, the starter gets so hot that it melted the glue. So I looked at it again and decided to pull the starter and warranty it out at autozone since maybe the selonid was bad. And it failed their test, put a new one in.
Back to the wire,..........I can't find that pigtail anywhere so if anyone can help me that would be a HUGE help.
I used a piece of 12g wire, stripped it and put an I-hook on the end and put it on the bolt of that starter and soldered it to the factory wire which looked a little bigger. As of right now it works PERFECTLY. NO STARTING ISSUES!!!

However I would still like to replace the 4 or 5" 12g cable I put in with a factory cable.

Next things to do:

Mystery radiator leak, dripping from the back/center of the bumper...odd. Radiator?

Mystery oil leak..maybe 2 of them. Drip on the filter. Drip on the drain plug.

Check the blower motor wires.

And still bothering me is when I turn the jeep off I hear clicking non stop like the blend doors. Can't figure that one out.
