Unsure missing A/C part

Hey guys,

I'm hoping you could help me out with an issue. I bought an '04 WJ Limited a few weeks back and didn't notice until just now that I'm not getting air out of the vents. I heard some air blowing around the glove box so I popped that off and here's what I see:

It looks like somebody just cut a piece out of the housing. It seems there's no way around replacing this piece, I'm just not sure which it is. I've been looking on MoparPartsAmerica but I'm having a tough time deciphering which part I need. Also, in the third picture there's a couple harnesses without a home. Not sure what those should be linked up to.

If anybody can point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

Re: Unsure missing A/C part

Most probably the previous owner wanted to do the blend door repair through the glovebox. Heatertreater is one of the brands who have kits for this. Advantage is that the repair is quick, instead of the normal repair procedure which requires removal of the whole dash. For this repair a hole is cut in the HVAC housing, but it should be taped closed after the repair. Now all air will just disappear behind the glove box. There is no piece available for this, maybe a HVAC housing from the scrapyard. Connector can be from the blend door actuator.

Re: Unsure missing A/C part

The housing looks like fibreglass... may be possible to epoxy some metal window screen mesh over the top, then apply a few coats of fibreglass mat and liquid to seal it back up.

Gorilla duct tape would be a good starter to see if it helps with air flow before wasting all that effort.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I think I'll try to seal it up as best I can and go from there.

its plastic not fiberglass. remove that Philips screw under the blend door. your hvac in its current state is fubared and might as well remove it and repair it properly when I warms up or if uhave a heated garage
