Re: vari lock axle swap

I love my Rusty's 2.5" My wj handles better with it than without cause of
the stiffer coils.Price was right too. Springs, shocks and hardware for under $380. Might put some Kevins 3/4" spacers on it yet but then ill have to spring for an adjustable trac bar.It never ends man!

Re: vari lock axle swap

Ok I found a rear axle on Friday and got it in on Saturday only issue was the driveshaft. Because of going from a Dana 35c to a 44a the housing is about a inch longer so I needed to get the driveshaft too. The shaft I got the U joints were shot so I had to wait till today so I could use the press at work to swap joints. (Never been comfortable with the hammer method.) Like everyone guessed it was a straight bolt in almost took longer to get the stupid springs in for the parking brake shoes than to put the axle in. Thanks everyone for all the help. Now I need to find a front axle. I have a lead just need to make sure it's the right ratio. Find out later today. Have to wait for the dealer to open.

Re: vari lock axle swap

Ok picking up the front axle on Saturday hope it's the right one it's 3 1/2 hours away. If the weather is nice I might try getting it in by Sunday. Fingers crossed.

Good luck Kev.Remember if you are changing the oil in them you have to use a friction modifier in the diff oil. You can get a bottle at just about any parts store.

Ya I made sure to get the good stuff synthetic oil and the friction modifier. That friction stuff is expensive I picked it up at the Chrysler dealership. It was $14 for a 4 oz bottle. I found a deal on the synthetic oil $10 a liter
