vibration at 40 miles an hour speed

Hello there

I have Jeep WJ Laredo 1999, 4L 6C.
I have a problem of violent vibration when I reach 40m/h speed or when I hit a bump at the right side of front wheel.
I run 255/50 on a 20 wheel.

I have made wheel alignments, balance and all steering components are new and the shock and coils are stock.

Can someone help, please?

regards

Re: vibration at 40 miles an hour speed

Welcome to the garage.
I have red many reports regarding the so called "dead wobble". And in almost all the cases it was caused by little play in steering components. Where really all the steering components changed, also the track bar? PU bushings instead of the softer rubber onces also helps. And how are the ball joints?

Check that shock too...if it's leaking (which should be obvious) it's useless. If you've ever driven anything with just springs and no shocks, it's pretty violent!

Re: vibration at 40 miles an hour speed

I have a new Jeep Grand Cherokee and my steering wheel vibration started at 60 miles. I have had the vehicle almost two months and the vibration is getting worse especially at higher speeds. I think that Jeeps are not made very well from the start. It looks really good, but drives like a hoopty.

Re: vibration at 40 miles an hour speed

Perhaps yours was made in a different factory then mine. IMO its the best vehicle that I have ever owned. The only complaint that I have if that the fit/ finish isn't perfect. But mechanically it's excellent.

Your vibration complaint points to improper wheel balance or uneven tire wear, nothing more. Have you been rotating your tires at 8000 mile increments? On many of these the wheel weights are glued on- are they still intact.

For anyone who is sensitive to wheel vibration, and especially folks who do any off road driving I always advise them to take your wheels off the vehicle and wash the insides, as accumulated dirt can cause imbalance. Its especially important to do that before you have the wheels professionally rebalanced.
