wife of Jeep owner looking for info for repair

Just found out we need a new blower resistor and a new blower. Went to the dealer and got charged $105.00 to tell me that and then wanted $320.00 MORE. Hopefully I can find some info out on this subject and save some money.

Re: wife of Jeep owner looking for info for repair

a little late ...for future reference. They have a wiring kit for just that specific problem. This is one of those things that they have a known problem with but won't make a recall.

The wiring kit should cost approx. 25.00 from stealership and the blower resistor should run about 155.00.

I have 02 Jeep Grnd Cher LTD. Learned hard way, went thru three resistors. I do highly recommend a mechanic knowledgeable in the electrical side to do the upgrade.

The stock wiring and plug is rated to low for the temp that comes thru them, i.e., wires get hot, melt plug in resistor and poof!! there goes the A/C.

HOW MUCH?!! I got a new one for £55. So say $70-$80. Fitting it is pretty straight forward tooThat said I didn't do the upgrade. That will be a bit tougher.
