Window trims rusting out

So all 4 of my windows trim pieces/water barriers that are horizontal on the bottome of the window are rusting out and bubbling up. I noticed two of the little end caps fell off and it completely looks like ****! Does anyone have any info. on how I can fix this?!
Thanks

Re: Window trims rusting out

This is what you are looking for. Ships from Wisconsin, came about 2 days after I ordered them. Pull up on 1 end with a needle nose pliers, try not to touch the paint. Installation is just push down on.

If you're referring to these,

One of our members TJXJWJ just ordered a set from Team Grand Cherokee and I think he is loving them so far.

Re: Window trims rusting out

These were the very first thing I replaced on my WJ. I ordered them the day after I bought it since they were nasty (rusty). Once you figure out how to get the first one, the rest are easy.

I've yet to replace them. Can you just grab one end and pull up to remove?

Re: Window trims rusting out

I pulled off a rubber plug at 1 end. Then used the needle nose pliers to get to the solid metal from within the wipe or belt (seen them called both). Then pull straight up.

I have seen a youtube video of someone taking the entire inner door apart, not needed. I did roll down the windows, not sure if it made it easier but I felt better about not breaking the windows.

Yeah that's a bit excessive.

If I remember right from when I replaced my window motor/regulator I was able to remove and reinstall all weatherstripping/belts before taking off the inner door panel.

Re: Window trims rusting out

Thanks, that is exactly what I am looking for. Seems kinda steep at $99.99 though. To those who have replaced these, what are the odds of being able to take them off a salvage yard vehicle without damaging them?

As for price wise I know it's a bit expensive but that's the best price we've found so far for a quality aftermarket version. Compared to an OEM replacement at like $200+ from this site.

http://www.justforjeeps.com/99wjgrchbemo.html

That site "Team Grand Cherokee" makes a tool that is designed to remove those weatherstrips for $12.

I bent the old ones quite a bit removing them. Mainly the end to get a good grip to pull up on.

Good luck finding any at a junkyard that aren't worse off than the ones you already have...
I just installed my set from TeamGrandCherokee...here's the link:
Ordered some goodies today
