WJ 4.7 Gearbox Fault

My Overland is acting up again, I lose 1st & 4th gear after about 1/2 mile of starting and lose kickdown, This happens every time and is accompanied by a jolt from the transmission. Fault code 0700 is showing and mil lamp is on. The car has only done 49K and is 2004 build. Anyone else had this problem?

Re: WJ 4.7 Gearbox Fault

Seems that your tranny goes into limp mode. I never had it, but seems to be a common failure on WJ when the input or output speed sensor is bad.

Re: WJ 4.7 Gearbox Fault

P0700 is only a PCM code for trans controller fault. You need more specific info from the trans controller side of the PCM. This sounds like the common issue with the valve body in the 45RFE transmission. If you can get a more specific code out of the controller, I can give you a more accurate route for repair.
