WJ Bucks

Hi, I drive a 99 WJ 4.7L. Everything is nice on my Jeep except
that a few weeks ago, the WJ bucked once.

I lost the data on the evic, the radio cut, and the engine bucked, but only once. all of this at the same time, and it lasted a second, not more. then everything came back to normal. the radio came back, the evic also.

Then, nothing for a few weeks. then it came back......exact same thing. lately, it got more often. from once a week to two or three times a day.
always the same story. no evic no radio and i feel a 'power cut' or a buck in the engine

in the last days, it could happen twice in 10 seconds.
However, the engine never cuts out completely. It gets back each time.
but sometimes, i use the jeep and nothing happens for a day if im Lucky. Last week, I had all the symptoms, plus the chime got on.

Ive read about it, spoke with jeep techs, etc........They know NOTHING
My guess would be the crankshaft pos sensor, a faulty ground somewhere on the car (go figure where is it), a short or maybe the pcm (heard about the zipties but didnot try).

I replaced the battery and verified all connections. I lately installed a ground kit (big 3). It did not cured it. I checked all fuses, relays, and everything and cant find nothing.....NO MIL....Im puzzled

ever happened to someone in here ?????

Re: WJ Bucks

EVIC data comes from the PCM. It can be a problem with the PCM itself, but eventually the crank sensor as well. If the crank sensor shorts out, it will bring the PCI data bus down. You loose then the EVIC data, but the instrument panel should show most of the lights and the instruments will go to 0. This last you didn´t report.
I would check the connectors on the PCM first. Remove them, check for moisture, corrosion or pushed back pin. Remove the negative battery terminal first before disconnecting any PCM connector.

Re: WJ Bucks

Talking about PCM, i noticed the ground wire that went from the pcm to the engine mount was green coated, so i passed a new wire next to it. That did not resolve anything tought.
