WJ GC 4.7 V8 2002 Alarm System

Hello

hoping someone can help me out here, I have a 2002 Grand Limited 4.7 V8 and when i come to test the alarm i found that when you open the door from inside with the alarm set the horn doesn't sound

The indicators flash suggesting that all is well with the system going into alarm condition but the horn doesn't sound

the horn works as normal when you press the horn on the steering wheel, but i don't know if the alarm utilises the same horn when in alarm condition or if there's a secondary horn within the alarm system

I don't know where the alarm interface is located within the vehicle

Any help on this would be appreciated

Cheers

Bill

Is it the factory alarm? If so you have to go into the overhead evic system & turn the horn on for the alarm. I have mine set to the lights just flashing without the horn.

Uniquetreatone

Thanks for the reply, I've had a look at the overhead evic system and the part your referring to only applies to the door locking and unlocking function via the key-fob, and not part of the alarm configuration to which I can't find any user adjustments on the evic system

Regards

Bill

As far as i remember this is normal system behaviour. As soon as you open the door with the internal door handle, you deactivate the alarm. I will test it on my jeep and let you know later.

Wait for 15 seconds or more, then it will trigger the alarm when you open it from the inside......

Re: WJ GC 4.7 V8 2002 Alarm System

Just tested it on my car, but indeed the alarm should sound.
Its the BCM which has the relay circuit for the alarm system. Donīt think you can repair anything in the BCM, just change it. Could be a wire problem as well.
There is also a premium version of the alarm system available, depending on which market, which has movement sensors installed inside the cabin and which has a separate siren and battery.

Re: WJ GC 4.7 V8 2002 Alarm System

Hi, I know this is a year later, but I was wondering if you found a resolution to this issue as I am getting exactly the same thing with mine.

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks

Re: WJ GC 4.7 V8 2002 Alarm System

Hello, I have the European model WJ and there are 2 horns under/behind the front driver side bumper. When I got the vehicle the alarm horn was unplugged because the previous owner couldnt figure out how to turn off the interior motion sensor (hit lock button on remote 3 times at a slow count) , even a fly that gets in a slightly lowered window sets the stupid thing off. Check to make sure it's plugged in.
