Re: Wont strt after heavy rain

There is an other fuse box, the PDC (power distribution center) under the hood, but the fuses feeding the BCM are on the junction block under the drivers side panel.
Did he remove the fuses #7, #22 and #28 on the junction block? They are all feeding the BCM, which on his turn switches the interior lights.
The three fuses have different functions: #7 is a constant feed to the BCM. #22 is a feed with ignition switch in RUN and START. #28 is a feed in RUN and ACC.
With all these three fuses removed, does the drain still occur? Did he actually see the interior lights on? Fuse#8 on the junction block is feeding all interior lights. With this fuse out, all the interior lights should be out as well. If they continue to work, then there must be some short.

Re: Wont strt after heavy rain

The mechanic came and told me the following ; The radio and both front doors are draining my battery ,the mechanic and his friend said they had done an amps test,I rang a garage [ as the mechanics are mobile mechanics ] and the garage told me it was very unlikely all 3 would drain the battery , maybe one door but not both ,so can any one throw any light on this,is it possible 3 different things could drain my battery all at the same time, ive told the mobile mechanic that I will get back to him as I need to book time off work for him to carry out the work.

? Why not take it to the real garage?

The doors can have problems with wires getting chafed such that moisture can cause problems if there is enough dirt to be conductive.

But, lacking a crystal ball, this tends to be a process of removing fuses, connectors, with a good meter until you find the drain.

If you don't have a good meter, it will likely be much cheaper to let a pro troubleshoot it.

Re: Wont strt after heavy rain

It sounds quite plausible to have three faults at the same time. Since the problem seems to be there more after rain, i would expect moisture in a connector. Since the mechanic expect the doors and radio to drain the battery, why not pulling the fuses from them one by one and see if the problem stops. The radio/amplifier use fuse #5 on the junction block. Both door modules use fuse #12 in the PDC under the hood. I would start with fuse #5 and see if the drain stops. If not, put the fuse back in and remove fuse #12 from the PDC. You will then loose power windows, power locks and power mirrors.
