Re: An Introductory Guide To Upgrading Your WJ's Interior Lighting To LED

Just wanted to say thanks for listing out everything that I need here, and thanks to a message from Tony about resistors I have placed an order with VLED's to redo my interior in 6k LED's! Oh and the Lic plate and got an idea on brighter reverse bulbs from the guys doing a group buy on the WK side, but I needed 1156 bulbs to go in my eagle eye tails.

No problem and sounds good! What kind of reverse bulb did you order?

Re: An Introductory Guide To Upgrading Your WJ's Interior Lighting To LED

I ordered this one, it fit my price range the best for the rated output. These are 1156 bulbs to go in my eagle eyes, stock housings take 3157 bulbs.

I was looking for a higher output bulb that will help me to not back into things and should be even better for others to see that I'm backing up.

Thanks for making me go look this up now, I see they went on sale for $5 less than they were yesterday when I bought them!

Those look sweet and look exactly the same as what all the guys ordered in the group buy for the WK. Isn't it strage how those Eagle Eye's use a 1157 instead of a 3157? I've always wondered that seeing as 3157 is a newer socket.

Lol it's all good it should be worth the money. I had some putco LEDs I bought from a member in my stockers, but of course they are 3157. I'm kinda glad they are different though these vleds should be brighter.

Re: An Introductory Guide To Upgrading Your WJ's Interior Lighting To LED

This guide just came in handy, I'm starting to do my interior LEDs, just ordered a few for my gauge cluster from superbrightleds, hopefully I'll get 'em soon, can't wait!

This is a really great thread and answered many of my questions that I had in my head after reading Gus's thread in the interior/exterior section. However I'm trying to clarify something here. Which bulbs go in the HVAC? The OP says "Cluster ilumination (Status & Warning, Bulb# PC74 - Quantity = 12+) (Backlighting, excluding electroluminescent) (Bulb# 103 - Quantity = 5)"

This leads me to believe the 5 bulbs you used for your gauges were "incorrect" bulbs, and the 74 style replacement bulbs are what goes in the hvac? or the bulb # 103 type replacement?

Re: An Introductory Guide To Upgrading Your WJ's Interior Lighting To LED

For my gauge cluster I used 5 74-xHP3 which replaced the 103's. 103's are the correct bulb size for my '01 Limited, not sure about other models or years, and those that have the electroluminescent gauge cluster seem to have different bulbs. I didn't do the 12 status/warning lights because they're rarely on. I'm pretty sure PC74 fits for the manual temperature controls, not sure about the automatic ones. So I'll replace them with T1.5-xHP's. (Got all mine from superbrightleds.com)

It makes use of both. The #PC74 for the status & warning lights and #103 for all the rest. As Gus mentioned, you'll probably only want to replace the #103 seeing as they are in constant use as the PC74 would hardly be used except if you want your warning lights on all the time (which is bad) as problems would have to occur for them to be in use.

You will love the upgraded dash lights. Here are a few example from V-LEDS of their 6K model being used in non-WJ guages.

(This is a Jeep Wrangler)

(Not sure what this one is)

No I didn't mean that I just meant that it's kind of pointless since the only reason they would be on is unless you have a problem with your Jeep or if something is on like the high-beams.
