I live in NJ but my jeep is a Cali emissions model. I'm NOT asking about a complete CAT delete, simply if its possible to convert it to a standard emission system fairly easily. From what I can tell its the pre-cats and probably a ecu flash? That about right?
Certainly not for new vehicles.. dunno what was in effect when your WJ was made, but I remember when I was looking for my '99 Durango all the vehicles the dealer located in NJ had California emissions..
Effective January 1, 2009, all new 2009 model year and later passenger vehicles or light duty trucks weighing less than 8,500 lbs. are required to meet California Low Emission Vehicle Program standards. The Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin (MCO) must be marked California emission certified or USEPA 50 state emission certified. MCO’s marked Federal Emission certified or lacking designation require an exemption from the NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP).
