Re: Damn Jeep (Dave's pitiful suspension upgrade thread)

Well guys there's not been much goin on on the Jeep cause I've been waiting for Classic Tube to bend a different front line set for me. Also the '99 I think is going bye bye. My buddy has been bugging me about it for a work vehicle for a while now and I think I'm gonna give in. I want my wife and kids to have something newer than a '99 with 232,000 mi on it to depend on. She was a good ride and still is but it's time to pull the plug. We are looking at an '07 Liberty though. I hope ya make it to 300k ride on old girl.

Thats too bad, but I understand why you would want to upgrade the family ride too. As long as the tranny is maintained the 4.0 should be good for 300k+. (My zj tranny wasnt, it only made 210k )

Yeah I had it totally rebuilt at about 185k. I was actually surprised it made it that long.That,a water pump and a couple exhausts is about we ever had to do to it other than wear items and the "infamous snow bank incident" I love to tease Karen about. Not bad for 100k of ownership.

Re: Damn Jeep (Dave's pitiful suspension upgrade thread)

Funny story.When we got the WJ it had just gotten fixed from a collision with a deer.The previous owner replaced the whole front bumper cover and foam rear support.What he didn't replace was the header panel that had about 3 tabs broken. Two or three years ago when we had our megasnow winter she decided she had to go somewhere. I was at work and the plows had about a 3 foot snow bank at the end of our driveway.Karen hearing me always preach about how these Jeeps will go almost anywhere decided this "snow glacier" wasn't going to be a problem. She proceeded to use the"ramming speed option"and promptly blew the whole front of the vehicle off. We're talking grill,bumper cover,foam piece,header panel and headlights all laying on the ground here Anyway I came home from work to find this carnage and me being me commented that this is the first time I've seen a vehicle get totaled before it left the driveway.That went over REAL WELL don't do that. Anyway with a new header panel it was an easy fix and I got to have some fun with the wife and do some moddin too

:thatf unny:: thatfunny:

Oh wow HA, I would never let my wife hear the end of that! Lol after a while she'd probably threaten divorce if I didn't stop. "ramming speed" only works if you have a plow up front lol!

Poor woman probably felt terrible though, I know Rachel would she was worried sick about how I would react, she thought I would be pissed at her last winter. She insisted on going to the store for xmas decorations, and we didn't realize how icy it was. That would be my sliding off the road and rubbing up against a sign post (with no sign on it...) incident, but I was just pissed at myself for not slowing down more.

Re: Damn Jeep (Dave's pitiful suspension upgrade thread)

Yeah she was pretty upset. I didn't string her along too long. We have a good laugh about it from time to time. It looked a lot worse than it was. Just a bolt on header panel that needed replaced anyway. I just wish I'd have taken a pic of all the parts laying in front of it in the driveway

I'm about to replace my front end in the spring too. Bumper, grille, and header panel. Wow 230k!!! Dang. Do you have any overheating issues with the 4.0? Like when the a/c is on and sitting in traffic?? Sorry to change topics lol. Pm me if you'd like Dave.
Thank you

Why a Liberty? Have you guys considered a newer WK? Not the WK2. I think a WK is roomier than a Liberty if I'm not mistaken.

It used to be real bad Mike until I changed the water pump and fan clutch. It's a lot better now though the gauge will still start to climb some on a long grade with the air on. I think pulling a trailer would get it warm. If you're getting that deep into the front end def go '04 cause the bottom duct is way less restrictive and IMO would cool tons better.Thinking about cooling I have never in 100k had to put a fan relay on it either.Wow.

She actually wants to downsize a bit. I'd love her to get a Wrangler but she knows that I'd just slowly start taking that over and moddin' the hell out of it She hates when I start doing unauthorized Sh@t to her vehicles
