Nice looking garage you are planning to build! Those of us that don't have a nice big space like that may have to come for a visit when the WJ's need work.

I think that ground comes broken from the factory, I've always wondered about it but never got around to fixing it yet. One of those things your see once and forget about.
I have to be careful with you bro. You're very impressionable. As far as the ground goes I drilled a hole in the new x member and bolted it there. It must have went there originally.

Yeah buddy! Point of no return time right there with the first spark off a cutoff wheel. Scary stuff but the end result "should " be worth it. It better be.

Anytime bro!Beer's cold and the grill tanks full. As far as the lift goes I'm probably gonna install the quick disco's and the steel front bump stop extensions so I can eliminate toxic green material forever. That will probably then be it for a while because that will put me into moving time.

Re: Damn Jeep (Dave's pitiful suspension upgrade thread)

Probably the last mod done by me in this garage Got to start packing things up They delivered a big dumpster today. Anything we haven't used this year is going in there. Screw it, I'm not moving useless crap.Worked on the quick disco's today.

These are Zone Offroad's extended links for a 3 to 4 inch lift. These are also gonna be up for grabs after this project is done and I'm sure I like the disco's. Don't worry guys I'm gonna price these take offs very reasonably.I'm not one of these sell high guys you see too much of. If you're still driving a WJ you work for a living. Now some of the new stuff I'm not gonna use like the shocks and adj track bar I'm gonna want a little more for.

Zone link out and RC bottom pin installed.

RC link installed.

Sway in the "stowed " position.

Did a little touch up on the front calipers.

Thought about changing out toxic bump extensions for the RC ones then I started having flashbacks from that fiasco a year and a half ago. Nope I'm not going anywhere near those mf er's again.......ever. They work great anyway. Toxic green Teflon lives on

Re: Damn Jeep (Dave's pitiful suspension upgrade thread)

Nice! I've got a clunk in my rear end...(insert comment here), so I'll be disconnecting my links and taking a spin around the block to see if that isolates it. Even after tightening everything up, I still hear something once in awhile. The Mevotech links might just be crap...

Good luck with the move and the Great Purge of 2013. It sucks, but at the same time it's nice to get a fresh start and unload the accumulation of junk. I'm re-doing 1/2 of my garage next week and I'm sure the trash guys are going to hate me come Tuesday....

Re: Damn Jeep (Dave's pitiful suspension upgrade thread)

Tony, I think you might be right on those mevotech links, I occasionally get a clunk that I can't figure out. The only other thing to check on is that upper a arm, I found mine was loose on the ball joint about a month ago. Not sure if I didn't tighten it up well enough or if it somehow worked its way loose.

The disco's look good there Dave! Shouldn't have a problem getting plenty of flex when needed now! Good luck with the move.

Yeah, while I'm under there I'll check that upper arm too and make sure it's tight. It's new, so I kinda ruled it out, but it's still worth a look. Thing do loosen up sometimes.
If it turns out to be those damn links, I'm ordering some Moogs dammit.

Mine was new too, about a year ago I replaced the arm and ball joint. Of course there's more than enough room back there to swing a wrench so I'm not sure how I couldn't have tightened it well enough..... Yeah if your links are no good I'm gonna replace mine with moogs too, I already know there is some play in mine.

Re: Damn Jeep (Dave's pitiful suspension upgrade thread)

Hey guys do a little test for me.Go down the road with hands off the wheel and hit the gas hard and let off quickly a few times. See if it "rear steers" on you and you get the clunk. If it does it's probably those oblong bushings in the lower control arm axle side especially since you both changed the upper stuff. These really don't belong in a v8 wj. If they turn out bad just buy new lower arms. They're cheap.I think I put 2 Rugged Ridge lowers on Karen's for under $80 a few years ago. What I really suggest though, is to go buy a set of adjustable short arm lowers from any reputable manufacturer and eliminate this problem altogether. No aftermarket co. uses that bushing so there must be a reason.Mine isn't clunking yet but is starting to get rear steer at 72k. Also if it turns out to be the links take a look under there at ride height and see what angle your sway is at. If you think it will sit at -10deg.(nose down) to +20(nose up)with a couple in. longer link get some good links from Zone for a lifted WJ with the poly bushings.Well worth it trust me.

I'll be doing this next week and report back. I almost hope it's the lowers so I can get some nice tubular ones

Re: Damn Jeep (Dave's pitiful suspension upgrade thread)

On 1 side of Karen's the rubber was so shot I could actually move the axle back and forth an inch when it was on stands. Also disclaimer........I forgot who I was talking to when I told you two " hit the gas hard with no hands on the wheel" This DOES NOT mean comb your hair, take a nap or pick your nose while doing this. You're gonna want to be ready to correct this if it does it. Just so we're clear there as I can just picture you two on a test run Seriously though in 3 different Jeeps I've experienced this in they always went to the drivers side but who knows.
