is the 247j transfer case the same on 4.0 and 4.7?

Thanks for all the great postings, they have helped greatly!

I have (just bought it in May 2013) 2000 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo
with a 4.7 quadra-trac 2, 247j transfer case.

The case is bad has NO 4 wheel drive in high or low.

I am going to check junk yards for a used one and rebuild it, need my jeep to get around with.

My main question is are the 247j the same in a vehicle with a 4.0 and a 4.7?

thanks
PS. I have already read tons of info on changing the 247 for the 242 just not interested in doing this at this time, want to see what the 247 can do when working and taken care of.

I can be wrong, but i thought that the NV 247 was only used on the 4.7.

It was available with the 4.0 but not common in my experience.
