Hi All,
I need to add some additive to my diffs as I don't believe they've had enough put in there by the previous owner despite him showing me the mopar bottle and they moan a little bit on slow tight corners!!!
I don't have a ramp so I'd be doin this job lying down so to speak.
What's the easiest (and quickest!!) way to make the fill plug accessible so I can put a couple more ounces of fluid in??
Cheers
Paul.
Do you have a floor jack? When i changed my rear diff fluid, the only way possible that i seen was to jack up the back of the jeep by the frame so the rear end will sag down. I dont think there is enough room between the gas tank and sway bar to fill it on the ground. Maybe someone will chime in on how they did it on the ground
I think you may have just hit the nail on the head mate, I had to get a tyre repaired the other day and he used a large trolley jack on the sub frame and I think I remember seeing the fill plug quite clearly.
Is it safe to jack under the tow hitch without bending anything??
I had to attach a rubber hose to the end of the diff fluid bottle and squeeze the fluid up the tube and into the diff because there still wasnt enough room for the whole bottle to fit. So make sure you have some spare tubing laying around when you go to start it.
I removed my sway.as.all bushings and links were shot to point of.barely holding on. Then at that point i did rear end lube job. I used a hand pump that fits into the bottle and.did it that way so no squeezing of any kind.
