Re: Replacing a power steering pump on a 4.7L

I emptied the reservoir three times with a hand pump to get the residual wrong fluid out and it's now quiet at idle when turning the wheel and was quiet when I backed into driveway and turned. Only time I can hear it now is parked with RPM's around 3k turning the wheel. Even then it's not that loud.

I honestly don't know whats normal because it's my wifes DD not mine.

Re: Replacing a power steering pump on a 4.7L

Hello, My wife has a 2000 G.C. 4.7 The pump is leaking bad so I goggled how to replace it and found the forum. I'm going to replace it this Friday night. I wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for everyone that posted their experience when changing one out. I'll take some pics and post them later.
Thank you all, Dan
P.S. I know it's an old thread but it will let me know what to except.

Just wanted to say thank you for this post! Very helpful. I'll be replacing the power steering pump on my jeep sooner rather than later.

Re: Replacing a power steering pump on a 4.7L

It helped me when I changed out ours. I just changed the radiator yesterday and found out the whole time it wasn't my power steering pump that was leaking. It is my power steering box. That looked really bad. I'll be changing that right after the holidays. Always something!!
