2010 Subaru Impreza

I need your help guys. A friend of mine would like to put hid headlights in her new 2010 Impreza. It has the projector headlights from the factory but didn't come with the hids. My question is what would be the best setup to put in? I know Tony is well known around here, and also XenonDepot..I think it is..

Whats the best to install? I know that probably 5000k would be best for her, but I'm not sure which vendor to order from.... I guess I'm just looking to order something soon to install, but wanna make sure that I get a quality product that will last and be backed up if any issues arise.

If you guys can offer any suggestions and help, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks guys!!
-Chris

Re: 2010 Subaru Impreza

To be honest, I don't think you can go wrong with either vendor.

I think the only meaningful difference between the two are the EMI filter in the XD kits and the lack of filter in the Xentec kits. It hasn't been an issue for me (Xentec kits here), but I beleive someone had an issue with it.

If you get the Xentecs, go with the slim ballast kit; they are tiny and appear to be pretty high quality.

EDIT: Bulbs are going to be different as well. But I'd be willing to bet that if we took a random group of people and had them do blind testing between the two, you'd probably find that this difference is probably more apparent on paper than an actual automotive environment.

IMO the xenondepot xtreme kit is the best in the world and I have had several different kits. Tony has a great warranty and great customer service too. You cant go wrong with either.

Re: 2010 Subaru Impreza

On the XD webpage they have two different hid kits available... the Xtreme Digital and the Volt hid Digital + hid kits.... whats the difference? Is it that the second kit is a slim balast? And if so, what are the advantages of a slim balast over the regular one?

Thanks guys!

Re: 2010 Subaru Impreza

Not sure about the difference in XD kits, but slim ballast vs a regular ballast is simply size. Smaller ballast are easier to find mounting locations for.

theres a spec sheet on xd.com that shows the difference. The XD kit imo is the best in the world. the XD bulbs use phillips glass which is the best in the world.

Re: 2010 Subaru Impreza

I've been having this debate myself for a while now...deciding between 5k or 6k, but around here light output is important and since 4300k is closest to pure white light, I'm thinking the 5k would be the best option. I'm afraid that bumping up to 6k, though it would look better, would lose some of the much needed light output that is the real reason for the upgrade

Thanks for all comments!!
