Don't say that too loud. I can already see the marketing guru's thinking "hummm, a $150K Diesel Camouflaged SRT Duck Dynasty Edition".....and better hope it doesn't sell. The "Justin Bieber Edition" would be right on its heels.

Re: 550 hp

To those saying they have one that runs great that's old, I am happy for you, you beat the odds. You beat the average. You beat what happens to the majority of owners. Check resale value price on older ones, better yet.. talk to any. single. mechanic. about the reliability or lack there of.

You couldn't pay me to own one and count on it for my day to day. Sorry guys!

Re: 550 hp

Nah.......I'll have my SRT anyday, everyday over the Rangie, there is something about our beasts that give then motoring character, just look at how many eyeballs turn when driving, the Rangie is just another car on the road.

I'd be fine with 500HP, or even the current 470Hp SRT. What I want is a Super Fast JEEP SUV that can also go OFFROAD! Now that I'd buy in a heartbeat!

Why Jeep hasn't offered either the 6.1L engine in the Summit/Overland line or offered the Air Suspension system in the SRT is beyond me.

Yeah... I know. JEEP OWNERS apparently DO NOT want a super fast SUV that can also go offroad. But I do, which is why I'm interested in the RRS (and to a lesser degree the Porsche Cayenne).

And exactly where does Jeep Grand Cherokee fall in comparison to the Range Rover Sport as far as reliability? I know the most popular sources (which might not be the most fair & balanced) have recently downgraded the WK2s reliability. Are there any even handed & valid comparisons that rate Jeep higher then Land Rover?

Your not alone. If jeep ever puts a high power v8 in an off road capable vehicle I will be one of the first in line!

Re: 550 hp

^^ Porsche Cayenne is equal to the GC Overland, which CAN go offroad. The SRT Jeep is more akin to the Cayenne Turbo and lesser so the Cayenne GTS. Neither of which are offroaders. Neither the X5M nor the ML63 are offroaders. So while it's great that a few of you want that, most do not. Only the Range Rover does it.

Additionally, the Range Rover does not look half as aggressive as the Jeep. In order to make the Jeep offroad worthy, the ground effects will have to be adjusted which will sacrifice looks. The Range Rover does not look menacing, it looks cute. It's the quintessential vehicle for a well-to-do gay man.

To the guy comparing RR and GC quality problems, please spare me. RR = crap. Period. Yes, Jeeps have had gremlins over the years, but nothing even close in comparison to RR. I'd never take a vehicle like a RR offroad because you never know when it's going to break down. Take a Jeep offroad and maybe your radio won't work, but the vehicle will.

I agree with the first paragraph.

However, I don't agree with your comments on appearance. First of all, yes the JGC SRT does look more aggressive than the RRS. However, removing some of the "ground effects" would not ruin the styling. There is nothing wrong with the styling on the Overland (and Summit), and it is able to go off-road. Also, the RRS does not look "cute". A Fiat 500 looks "cute". The 2014 RRS still looks quite aggressive, even if it doesn't look as aggressive as the JGC SRT. Also, I think you would be the only person in the world to associate the RRS with being a vehicle driven by gay men.

To be honest, neither brands are particularly reliable. They score right next to each other on the reliability surveys. The RRS might be a little less reliable than the Jeep, but the chance of it breaking down on the trail is not THAT much higher than the chance of the Jeep breaking down on the trail. The main issue I would have with taking a RRS off-road would be the fact that it costs between $65-$105K. I would also be afraid to ruin the insane interior.

Just to be clear, I am not a RRS fanboy. I own a 2014 JGC Overland and like it a lot. If I end up buying a 2014 RRS (which is quite likely), it will be in addition to my Jeep.

Re: 550 hp

Agree to disagree. I've had an Overland. It's a great looking vehicle, put it does NOT look fast. It does not look performance oriented. Now if the offroad crowd wants the 6.4L available in the Overland that's one thing, but it's impossible to keep the race appearance of the SRT and make it offroad worthy. Impossible. The low front bumper is paramount to the appeal of the vehicle. In an offroad vehicle that's the first to go.

Like I said, the Overland, particulary the 2014 Summit, is a beautiful car. But there isn't a neutral person on the planet who will tell you it looks fast. It's a handsome car. The Range Rover is cute.

It seems we misunderstood each other. I agree, the Overland doesn't look particularity fast. I was just saying that removing some of the ground effects wouldn't ruin the look. If they dropped a 6.4L Hemi (preferably tuned to SRT spec) in the Overland and added a setting to tighten up the handling, I would be perfectly fine.

Neither one of us is going to win the argument over the RRS, so I agree, let's agree to disagree.
