In comparison with the Seven, it's a Touareg

It's the VW Polo V with the 1.4 EFI engine. It's for my wife because she works a less than 2 km from house but... I sometimes have to take it because the GC has disappeard from the parking

A Caterham car isn't a kit car (except in UK where you can choose to build it by yourself) and is built in UK; this is why its cost is high.
I don't know the legal points in the USA but in Europe it is virtually impossible to register a car built by yourself. You can build one but in this case you will be only allowed to drive onto a cicuit.

There are several publication and web sites about lowcost and Seven-like building for few money and it's very interesting.
