Re: Asking my US brothers..... what say you?

it sounds to me like it could be a good investment as far as autos go. save the fringe tax of 6 or 7K a year. plus i would imagine resell would be very strong since they are so cost prohibitive to import and convert.

More importantly;
Do australian women love big pickup trucks as much as american women?

Re: Asking my US brothers..... what say you?

That's a nice truck. I had an 06 Laramie quad cab with the 5.9 and absolutely loved it, however traded it in on the SRT8. I got almost all of my money back in the trade. SMALL WORLD, I live only a mile from that dealership. They are good with diesels but suck at working on hemi's. Let me know if I can help.

Noted, but wouldn't resale always be stonger on "the latest and greatest" engine in the range? The 5.9 is a solid engine, but quite industrial compared to the 6.7.....

They definately hold their value here, especially since I'll be getting "a deal" And lol, Aussie women aren't usually impressed by cars. Well, not the good women

Yeah we get it, but it's a boat anchor of an engine..... most guys who want to mod them are putting in the current Chev silverado diesel, costs a mint, but they say the results are pretty wild

Re: Asking my US brothers..... what say you?

New Ram? Pics? Is there a newer model now?

Everyone I've spoken to says the diesel is much stronger than the 5.7? It's obviously also more fuel efficient I'd expect (our "gas" prices are triple yours).

We have tax rules in Australia, one is called Fringe Benefit Tax. That means that a vehicle owned by a company, if used for even a small amount of private use, is heavily taxed.
Commercial vehicles (trucks or " heavy utes") are exempt from this tax.
Last financial year I paid nearly $6k in FBT just for the Jeep. Then there's the other vehicles that my reps drive, it ads up!

That's the main reason I'm looking at trucks now, plus they're rare here, so kinda 'cool", and good tow vehicles. Ultimately I'd like the 6.7 diesel in the 1500 chassis, but they don't make that The 2500 is just so enormous, as is seen as a bit of a penis extension. lol

It's not called a King Cab. It's even bigger. The one in the link is a Mega Cab. Fa-Harking HUGE! Bigger than most college dorm rooms and even some studio apartments. I'm not joking.

Ben, you know I used to both build these, and later sold them in TN? The Mega Cab Diesel was my specialty. They were just making the switch to the 6.7 from the 5.9, but all I can tell you is EVERYONE talked about that new diesel being the shiz-nit of the industry. Like it couldn't get any better. We had diesel mechanics from as far away as Alabama come to our dealership to "ooh and aah" at them. I sold a bril. black cry. pearl one to a contstruction co owner with a USD ticket price of near $80K USD after he had us add rims/body kit pieces, push guard, nerf bars, etc. He put half down.

If a quad cab is a penis extension, get ready to be the "Ron Jeremy" of Australia. The Mega Cab is just plain huge. It's hard to believe, but it's even bigger from the inside. You'll have trouble finding enough things to fill it up.

Like I said earlier, this new 6.7 was talked about like it was the biggest/baddest bitch of the bunch.

Here's a shot of a 2010 Ram for comparison. Nothe the subtle forward rake of the headlights/grille assembly.
