Question Calling all current/past durango 5.9 owners!!!

So my buddy has a 1999 dodge durango that is pretty cool...k&n intake, headers, high flow cats and flowmaster. He just bought a superchip programmer for it. Has anyone had any experience with this kinda set-up? The thing runs great now and I think the schips will really make it liven up! Please post any experiences and advice. TIA

also any idea on what this thing will run? 0-60 and 1/4? It's a 2wd and has 167,xxx miles on it. Slightly larger stock a/t tires and a 1.5 in lift. Reason I'm asking is we are going to hit the track soon and I want to take him down. Once I get mine all cmr'd up I think it shouldn't be a problem!

Re: Calling all current/past durango 5.9 owners!!!

I had a 2001 durango with 5.9l, flowmaster, k&n drop in, 180 degree thermostat. I bought a hypertech programmer and it did increase performance 5-10% depending on the tune settings (e.g. 93 octane or 87 octane), so for the $200 the Hypertech cost me on ebay, it was worth it. I never did 0-60 times, I bought it for towing.

Re: Calling all current/past durango 5.9 owners!!!

My mom had a 02 R/T 5.9. The engine was somewhat good in the ZJ but sucked for anything heaver and the 4 speed gear box didn't make it better. With those mods he may run a 0-60 time of 7-7.5 sec. 1/4 mile times should be around 15.3-15.7 sec. I know with my moms car, it ran 8.1 sec 0-60 but I don't know about the 1/4 mile times.

Those things are cool no doubt, but when I realized the 5.9 Grand was faster out of the box and cheaper...it was a no brainer. And you should tell your friend to look into SCT over superchips. They are making strides right now for DCX.
