Re: Car Of The Week (COTW)

I slacked on this so far, mainly due to some things...going on in my life. I am doing good now though. I will have something posted either tonight, or tomorrow morning for this.

Re: Car Of The Week (COTW)

Car Of The Week #1
2010 Subaru Legacy

Exterior Looks: The Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT has an upgraded front fascia from the last generation. The last generation Legacy had an aggressive headlight set up. They screamed 'watch out'. However, the newer generation Legacy, has somewhat more, sleek, and luxury type headlights. I give the nod to the last generation Legacy in this area.

The grille area on this car has a lot of potential. Some judge cars on how they look from the front. The grille area is personally important to me. The grille on the Legacy is actually not bad at all. It has some style, and it gives you options. If you want to do a grille delete type set up, you can. It can be pulled off, and made to look good.

The side view of the car screams 2008 G35 sedan, and 2009 G37 sedan. It has the exact same design. The only real difference from the side, is when you see the front half portion of the car ( after drivers side door ). The rear end of the car of the car, is definitely not my favorite part of this car. I think Subaru failed to finish the job there.

overall, Subaru did a great job with the design of the car. They made it look aggressive, yet managed to give it the sleek/luxurious look. There were definitely more positives than negatives. One thing is for sure, the looks are subjective to ones very own opinion.

Overall: 8/10

Interior Looks
:This is where Subaru failed miserably. Then again, that is for you to choose. Subaru has never put together a quality interior. At least for the their sport cars. However, there is an upside to this. They are improving, and with time, I believe they can turn this around.

The wood trim is personally not something I am into, while some others are. The center console, has potential, but, is still not quite there. It is as if Subaru has tried a little too hard to create something, but has failed.

The overall roominess of the car, appears to be a little cramped. However, pictures may be deceiving. If so, then there is no real apparent issue in regards to that.

Subaru managed to have a positive in the interior. They have leather seats. That is a huge positive for them. Other sport cars such as the Mitsubishi Evo does not have leather interior. The Cobalt SS/TC also does not have leather, but instead Suede.

Overall, I think Subaru still has a ways to go, but they are getting there. This is just another stepping stone for them.

Overall: 6.0/10

Performance:
One thing popular with foreign automakers, is the 4 cyc. engine. The Legacy actually is offered in the 4 and the v6. The 4 cyc that it is offered in, is the 2.5 liter, and the v6 that is offered is the 3.6 v6.

The 2.5 liter pumps out anywhere from 170 horsepower to 265 horsepower. The 3.6 liter v6, actually pumps out 256 horsepower. These are all respectable numbers. Most individuals have never experienced more than 250 horsepower. So the Legacy has more than ample amount of power, whether it be for the family sedan, or the high school kid.

If the Legacy puts it's power down to the ground as well as the WRX (265 horsepower), then it will also run respectable times for a 4 cyc. at the track as well.

Another great thing about 4 cyc. engines, is for those who like to buy modifications, they are usually not too expensive to buy.

Overall, the Legacy is right where it should be. It is on the level of which most family sedans are on. Being said, it is a quick car for what it is.

Overall: 9/10

Gas Consumption:
The Subaru Legacy averages anywhere from 18 miles to the gallon in the city, to 31 miles to the gallon on the highway. It all depends on which model you choose, and whether it has the 4 cyc. or the v6. Another thing to consider, is how you drive it. If you drive it like you stole it, then it will show, but if you drive it like a grandma, I am sure you will be able to stretch it a few more miles.

Overall, it get's really good gas mileage. The sportier versions will get less, but what do you expect with a sports car?

Overall: 8.5/10

Price Value: Like most cars, the more you pay, the more you get. This is exactly the same way. You can get one for around 20k, bottom of the line. If you pay 30k, you can get the top of the line model. At the end of the day, it is all about what you can afford, and what you are looking for.

Overall: 9/10

Total Overall Score: 41.5/50

one question-how can you review these without driving them? Or are these reviews read in a magazine/online?

Re: Car Of The Week (COTW)

There is no V6 option in the Legacy mate, it's a FLAT six.

Re: Car Of The Week (COTW)

Look on yahoo auto's. It states there is a 3.6 6H.

I am doing this off of personal opinion, and from what I have read from various articles. I stated that in my review. That everything is subjective to everyone's very own opinions.

Now, again, this thread is just based on car reviews. If someone is in the market, they may find something they would be interested in. I randomly pick cars/trucks/suv's. I am not doing this for anyone in particular. Please keep your negative comments to yourselves, or I will have them deleted. Thanks.
