Last generation Honda CRVs

Was on the highway a couple weeks back and noticed while i was behind a honda crv i beleive last generation (05 earlier etc) that the rear axle has no differential cover its just all our in the open. noticed it on more then one as well.

Just found that to be wierd

Are you sure you were looking at an AWD version? They make front drive CR-Vs that obviously don't have a rear differential. Same thing for Ford Escapes. When you see a front drive Escape, the rear differential housing is just an open hole. Looks funny to me....

not really sure.... doubt it was the AWD it just looked dangerously weird to me...

Umm that's because CRV's are front wheel drive. There are all wheel drive variations, but they are few and far between. I worked at a Honda dealer for a while. and by last generation which ones are you referring to? Newest body style came out in 08.

hrm prolly the first gen because of how box-like it was definetly wasnt one of the newer models but when i saw it it look like an open differential case
