My guilty pleasure...

It was a restoration project. The car caught on fire and I took her in as a restoration project.

Unfortunately, I still don't have the new cable for my harddrive so all I could do was snap a pic for you guys.

I got a deal on a 2005-2006 3.6L Carrera engine. The car was totalled from the front and scrapped. So I bought the engine and then went to work. Had a lot of help from the Porsche dealership and the local garage putting her together as I don't have any of the major equipment for restoration. Though working together with both Porsche and the local garage was a priceless experience.

Here she is. The body is a 1999 996 Carrera, kept the original paint colour and the original hood colour. Got her a hard top done which is detachable but I like keeping her soft top on most of the time.

She's puttin out around 360BHP on paper, but haven't done a dyno yet. I'm assuming since the engine I put in was used for a few years and I still have some ECU issues to fine tune. She's probably going to give me around 320 at the wheel. I hope 320 will be the minimum she's giving me.

EDIT: The P-Zeros I slapped on have done wonders for grip! Well worth the investment.

Re: My guilty pleasure...

Another shot.

White = my dad's 996 turbo.

Red = my 996 carrera.

distant background is my dad's daily, a 2004 MK4 Golf 2.0.

We have a thing for white cars. (my new JGC is going to be stone white).

Re: My guilty pleasure...

Yeah I love them. My dad and I are smart about it too. We keep our dailys. My Nissan Pathfinder is going to go, and going to be replaced by a stone white JGC overland hemi.

I might get rid of the 996 though, simply because as my dad can afford his 996 turbo, I am dying with all the maintenance and service fees here in Kuwait. Plus, as much as I love sports cars, the roads here are not always the best for such vehicles. They take a toll, especially if you are an aggressive driver such as myself.
