Nowhere near as difficult now as it used to be. Many companies have sprung up to handle things like this.

Last time I remember seeing it was something like $25k to convert and 'legalize' a RHD vehicle for use in the US. I believe the primary company who was doing the conversion went belly up though. Again this was years ago when I read this. I'm not even sure if what I was reading was accurate.

In the first pic... is that an R32 I see?
Matt, that's just crazy, sun-dried Florida talk. See below.

You most certainly DO NOT have to convert it to LHD. A Skyline can't even be converted. If I remember correctly, the intercooler/turbo piping or exhaust system completely blocks the option of LHD steering mechanisms.
I've never done this, but because of working in Korea so long and wanting to eventually return to the States, I have investigated both bringing a car here to Korea, and bringing a vehicle back to America. It's really not that difficult, just a lot of rules to follow.

Can't you just leave it right hand drive and get a day permit on the occasions you want to take it out or something?

Thanks Ron! I was trying to regurgitate what I read years ago, lol, I didn't do so well. I remember seeing a couple of RHD 240's at my University, so I guess that conflicted with what I wrote anyways.

The only logical argument I could think of is any sort of emissions regulations. Besides that, it's a car, just like any other car. Right...? Surely there will be import charges, but I wouldn't think there would be much to change on the actual vehicle.

Re: Look what I got! :D

Ron's right, the turbo dump pipes are right in the road of where a LHD steering shaft would need to be installed, so converting to LHD isn't at all attractive. You'd only want to do it if you could legally drive it as it is.
And thanks again fellas

Re: Look what I got! :D

Insane ride, people pay huge money for those in the US, especially RHD.
