My other ride is a 1990 Chevy Stepside.
A friend of mine had bought an old truck for $600 and fixed it up and drove it daily, and I decided it would be a good idea for a third car - a truck for the occasional dump run and to haul stuff. I always liked the way the Stepside looked, but they are a bit harder to find than I expected. I surely wasn't looking for a 4x4.
I found this truck, a 1990, with 160k miles on it. It was jacked up with huge mudd tires on it. I never had the intention of fixing it up; I just wanted something that ran. There was a lot wrong with it and although I am not the auto mechanic type, the more I got into it the more I enjoyed it... I fixed everything wrong with it, one step at a time, replaced most of the interior, got the cap and hood repainted, new tires, wheels, grill, bumpers, etc.... And now I have a twenty year old truck with 160k that is nearly brand new and runs like a champ.
